The regime reported a total stoppage at the ENERGAS plant in Puerto Escondido to “guarantee operational safety.”
LIMA, Peru – Maintenance at the ENERGAS plant in Puerto Escondido will leave the inhabitants of seven Havana municipalities without service for a few days next week.
As reported by the Manufactured Gas Company and the state press In Cuba, a total shutdown will be carried out at the plant with the objective of “guaranteeing operational safety.”
The recess will take place between 9:00 p.m. on November 26 and 3:00 a.m. on November 28, 2025, “which will cause effects on the manufactured gas service provided in Havana.”
The note indicates that the areas of the network that will have total service interruptions are the municipalities of Plaza de la Revolución, Cerro and Centro Habana. At the same time, the municipalities of Old Havana, 10 de Octubre, Playa and Marianao will have partial and total damage in the areas furthest from the production plants.
According to the state company, “the maintenance work would increase the production capacity of the ENERGAS plant, as well as the stability and quality of the gas that is sent to the capital for domestic use and for the generation of electricity.”
The problems with manufactured gas in the capital are part of the acute energy crisis that Cuba is passing through, aggravated by the shortage of liquefied gas. In the absence of this resource, many homes depend on electricity for cooking, a service that also suffers from prolonged daily blackouts.
Added to the energy instability is the general economic deterioration, the lack of food, medicine and fuel, and sustained inflation that continues to deteriorate the living conditions of the Cuban population.
Last August, the same Manufactured Gas Company had reported a total cut of gas service in Playa and Marianao due to replacement work on a section of transmission pipeline.
Likewise, just last week, several neighborhoods in the Cuban capital they woke up without service street gas. Complaints from users on social networks highlighted the lack of notice about the cut and reported damages in the municipalities of 10 de Octubre, Plaza de la Revolución and Old Havana.
In the absence of official information in the usual channels, users attribute the gas outage to a breakdown in the production plant that supplies the capital.
