Magis TV, a streaming platform that has captured the attention of thousands of users in Bolivia and Peru, offers a wide range of content at affordable prices. The Telecommunications and Transport Regulatory and Oversight Authority (ATT) has been emphatic in pointing out the dangers that this platform entails.

However, Magis TV administrators have consistently sought to evade these blocks by frequently changing their servers and web addresses. Despite these efforts to circumvent regulation, Tigo has remained steadfast in its commitment to protecting its customers.

The Illegality of Magis TV: A Regional Problem

In addition to security risks, Magis TV faces serious legal questions in both Bolivia and Peru. In Bolivia, Raúl Terán, a systems engineer, explained that the application operates outside of any regulatory framework, making it a piracy platform.

“Magis TV does not pay royalties or respect intellectual property. This includes streaming movies that are still in theaters and content from other platforms, which is completely illegal,” Terán stressed.

In Peru, the illegality of Magis TV has also been a topic of debate. The platform has been criticised for its business model based on piracy, which has led to legal conflicts, especially in the sports field.

Ecuador’s Liga Pro, whose matches are broadcast without authorization by Magis TV, has led a crusade to block IP addresses associated with the platform. Miguel Ángel Loor, president of Liga Pro, was blunt.

“We will continue to push for the blocking of all these pirate IPs, especially Magis TV. We will go to the last consequences because it is the only way to revalue our football”he added according to the report.

Despite numerous warnings and legal actions against it, Magis TV remains a popular choice among users in Bolivia and Peru. For some, the low cost and The wide range of content on offer is reason enough to ignore the risks.
