The general commander of the National Police, PNP general Víctor Zanabria, assured that the fugitive leader of Peru Libre, Vladimir Cerronhas “quite a few skills” to evade capture operations.
Zanabria told Canal N that he trusts in the development of police work and was optimistic that the increase in the amount of the reward for information leading to his arrest will finally allow him to find his whereabouts.
“We are carrying out all the activities for the capture. This person has enough skills to be able to evade some operations that we have done, but we trust that the development of the work we are doing and also the increase in the reward that is being given will allow us to capture him in a few days and thereby eliminate a big problem, questioning that exists and does not allow progress in other tasks as important as those we have been carrying out,” he stated.
The official version is that more than 50 operations have been carried out in Lima and other parts of the country to find his capture. However, Cerrón fails to be arrested and enjoys his freedom. To date, the reward for his location amounts to half a million soles.
The owner of Perú Libre went into hiding after being sentenced to three and a half years in prison for corruption crimes in October 2023, for the “Aeródromo Wanka” case.
One year after his escape from justice, the leader of Peru Libre reappeared from hiding, on his Facebook account, in which he suggests that he is a politically persecuted person. “I greet the Peru Libre party and the people, upon completing a year of resistance, discipline and loyalty, values that guarantee victory on the road to socialism,” he wrote.
