The White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, confirmed that Donald Trump’s government received the letter sent by Nicolás Maduro, but said “it contains many lies.”
During a press conference held on Monday, September 22, the official reported that the letter sent by Maduro does not change the United States’s opinion on the Maduro administration.
«We have read the letter. It contains many lies, the position of the administration does not change, the Maduro regime is illegitimate, the president will use all the means to stop drug trafficking in the Venezuelan regime in the United States, ”Leavitt reiterated.

In the letter he showed “blunt data” of drug production and drug trafficking in South America and cited an UN report where it is indicated, “he said,” that 87 percent of the drug produced in Colombia goes out through the Pacific ports; 8 percent for the North Guajira; and just 5 percent tries to be transported through Venezuela.
Maduro expressed his desire to be able to defeat with Trump the “fake News that fill with noise” the relationship between the two countries and invited the president of the United States to “preserve peace with dialogue and understanding throughout the hemisphere.”
