Maduro's government offers humanitarian aid to Mexico after devastating rains

He government of Nicolás Maduro announced this Tuesday that he made available to Mexico the Simón Bolívar Humanitarian Task Force to support search and rescue efforts 65 people missing after the torrential rains that hit the center of the country and that have left at least 64 dead, thousands injured and severe material damage.

In an official statement, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry He noted that the specialized team “can facilitate the assistance and care operations for the victims carried out by the Mexican authorities“, and reiterated Caracas’ willingness to provide immediate cooperation in the face of the emergency.

The Executive of Nicolas Maduro expressed his “unbreakable solidarity with the people and government of Mexico”as well as his condolences to the families of the fatal victims, trusting in the “strength and resilience of the honorable Mexican people to overcome this unfortunate situation”.

According to official reports, the torrential rains recorded between October 6 and 9 affected 111 municipalities of the states of Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosíwhere more than 1,800 millimeters of rainthe equivalent of the half the annual average in just four days.

The Mexican authorities attributed the emergency to the combined action of the Hurricanes Raymond and Priscillaformed in the Pacific, along with several low pressure systems in the Gulf of Mexico.
