Maduro's government condemned drone attack against Putin's residence

The government of Nicolás Maduro condemned this Wednesday the attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putinnoting that it constitutes a “terrorist act of extreme gravity.” And he assured that the event “directly” threatens regional and international security.

“Venezuela strongly condemns the attack perpetrated against the residence of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, which occurred during the night of December 28 to 29 in the Novgorod region,” the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

In the text, the Maduro government, which sees an ally in Putin, pointed out that “the deliberate use of long-range means against facilities linked to the head of state reveals reckless and criminal conduct. Oriented to sow chaos, political intimidation and global instability.”

He also expressed his solidarity with Russia and demanded “the immediate cessation of terrorist actions that put the lives of civilians at risk. Also the security of nations and the balance of the international system.”

On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said a foiled Ukrainian attack targeted a Putin residence.

“On the night of December 28-29, 2025, the kyiv regime launched a terrorist attack with 91 long-range unmanned aerial vehicles against the state residence of the President of Russia in the Novgorod region.” This according to Lavrov, who was quoted on Monday by Russian agencies.

Lavrov added that all drones launched by kyiv were destroyed and no casualties or damage were reported from the falling fragments.
