The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reiterated that his government continues to make offices because Venezuela and Colombia work in integration to achieve the peace of both countries.
“We want peace for Venezuela and Colombia, every day we are working (…) so that there is peace between the two countries,” Maduro said in the installation of the National Chamber of the Popular Government System.
The president stressed that Venezuela will be free of armed groups after the military operation called “Catatumbo Lightning” that began last week the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) on the border with Colombia.
“We can affirm that after this lightning operation of the Catatumbo, of several that we are going to do in 2025, our territory is free of armed groups, coca planting, cocaine laboratories, clandestine clues and presence of mafias definitely,” he said.
For his part, the Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, said that the military managed to destruction of more than 20 illegal camps of different kinds, which operated on our border side.
“We can show the country a tangible result in terms of camping of different kinds: training, drug processing, logistics, more than 20 camps we have destroyed in this operation and destroyed cocaine laboratory, it is a sector that covers a front 100 kilometers of border and an area of 10,000 square kilometers where we have been operating, ”he said.
Similarly, Maduro reiterated his proposal on the creation of a binational zone between Venezuela and Colombia for the economic and social development of both countries.
“I have proposed the creation of a large binational economic zone of the north of Santander with the Táchira state and part of the Zulia (…) to carry education, literacy, culture, sports, social and comprehensive development to all that area and for us to have A great peace plan because the pain and violence of Colombia are ours too, so we want Colombia to heal their wounds, ”he said.
