The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, stated this Monday that Venezuela and Colombia have taken an immense step towards restore relationships of brotherhood, of solidarity between both peoples.
During an act on the occasion of the award to distinguished Venezuelan Cultors, the Head of State thanked the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro on behalf of the 30 million Venezuelans for this great historic step.
“From the history that unites us, I send the President of Colombia the gratitude of more than 30 million Venezuelans for this immense step that we have taken to restore the relations of brotherhood, of solidarity between our peoples,” he stressed.
The Dignitary said that even in moments of greatest tension between both nations, as a result of the actions of the previous occupant of the Casa de Nariño, he always trusted in the resumption of friendship ties based on mutual respect.
«Today, September 26 (…) I knew that this day was going to come. In the darkest days, when it came to invading Venezuela through these bridges, I knew that sooner rather than later this day was going to come and with faith in God I asked for it, and this day came and I thank President Gustavo Petro of Colombia» .
Maduro stressed that there is much to be done for a genuine decolonization process. “There is much that needs to be done from culture for a genuine process of cultural decolonization of our boys and girls, our youth and our people and that we have more and more identity of the values that move this rebellious people,” he urged.
On the other hand, the National President pointed out that we are at the birth of a new multipolar world that will cease to be a world of hegemons that dictate their orders and intend to treat the peoples as colonies.
“We are at the center of the birth of a new world, which will cease to be a world of hegemons that dictate their orders and intend to treat the peoples of the world as colonies to become a multipolar world,” he stressed.
“The humanity that we know has been fundamentally subjected to empires,” Maduro said.

As “a historical fact” defined the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, the reopening of the border between Colombia and Venezuelaaction carried out this Monday, September 26 in the context of the reestablishment of diplomatic, political and commercial relations.
“We are peoples united by the unbreakable bond of Bolivarianism,” he emphasized through his account on the social network Twitter, @NicolasMaduro, regarding the protocol act carried out at the Simón Bolívar International Bridge, located in San Antonio del Táchira, which included the participation of authorities from both nations.
The Head of State asserted that the reopening of the common border “marks the beginning of a stage of relations of brotherhood, respect and peace.”
The border crossing was reestablished in the states rush, Tachira Y Zulia. In this sense, pedestrian traffic will be open from 5:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the afternoon, while freight traffic will be active from 10:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon.
The projections of the commercial exchange between Venezuela and Colombia are placed at 2,000 billion dollars for 2022, after the reactivation of the purchase and sale of products.
Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Colombia were formally restored on August 29 with the presentation of the Letters of Credence of Ambassadors Félix Plasencia and Armando Benedetti, respectively.
