The president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Nicolás Maduro, ordered this Thursday to deepen the democratic power of the bases of popular power.
“In Venezuela there is a direct democracy and every time it is necessary to go deeper in giving power to the bases, instructed the President of the PSUV,” Maduro said.
From the Poliedro de Caracas during the swearing-in ceremony of the new street, community and Ubch chiefs of the capital city, the top leader of the PSUV highlighted that in Venezuela a Socialist and Communal Revolution is being built for the 21st century. “They are not patches that we put on capitalism” when affirming that this 2022 “we have advanced by leaps and bounds giving power to the sovereign people.”
Maduro stressed that the PSUV is the great force that moves the nation for the historical resistance, while recalling that Venezuela has a record of elections in the entire world. In total, 29 elections have been held, “which we have won 27 elections by chest.”
He stressed that the PSUV is more than a party, it is an organized, fighting and conscious people.
In this sense, the President of the Republic also explained that in Venezuela a new State of justice and law is being built, enshrined in the Constitution, a Magna Carta that broke definitively with the Fourth Republic.
Similarly, he urged the leaders of Popular Power to build harmonious, united and collective teams. “We must build a Chavista leadership (…) our revolution is popular, constitutionalist, democratic, radical, socialist, Bolivarian and Chavista.”
Economic growth
During the day, Maduro affirmed that Venezuela will be the country with the highest economic growth in all of Latin America and the Caribbean in 2022, the head of state asserted.
In this regard, he stressed that the Venezuelan economy “is diversifying, innovating, undertaking, producing with the popular bases (…) great value for the years to come.”
On the other hand, he highlighted the active participation of street leaders, as well as the Bolívar-Chávez Battle Units (UBCH), during the municipal, parochial and state elections.
On the other hand, Maduro questioned the political campaign of the opponent Henrique Capriles, who has given himself the task of touring the country with a demagogic discourse, speaking ill of the country and saying that he will be president of the Republic.
«There Henrique Capriles is campaigning. He says that he is going to win the elections (…) I would like to have a debate with him to unmask him, “he said.
Along the same lines, he applauded the achievements of the popular bases of the different sectors of the country.
“In the year 2022 we have advanced by leaps and bounds towards the definitive defeat of the imperial conspiracy, we have democratized Venezuelan society. The Venezuelan people must have sovereignty.”
