The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ratified his position to end illegal mining in the south of the country, in order to preserve the ecosystem in the Venezuelan territorial Amazon.
In his weekly program Con Maduro +, the head of state updated the results of Operation Autana in the state of Amazonas, which, led by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, has evacuated more than 4,000 illegal miners as normal in two weeks.
Through a report on the multi-state channel Telesur, it was announced that an air and river bridge was activated to remove all the people from the Yapacana National Park.
Operation Autana includes personalized attention to miners who voluntarily abandon illegal deposits, which include medical check-ups, relocation to other states in the country, and registration, which implies complex but effective logistics.
The president expressed his full support for the revitalization of a concrete agenda to preserve the Amazon, which respects the sovereignty of the Amazon States and the rights of indigenous communities.
He assured that his government will support the development of the plans that are designed jointly in the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization, which unites all the Amazonian nations, including our country.
