Maduro warns that Venezuela "will defend itself with weapons" Before any attempt at foreign invasion

Nicolás Maduro warned this Friday that Venezuela is ready to respond with weapons in front of any attempt to foreign military invasion.

The official leader insisted that, although his government promotes a “peace diplomacy”, he will not hesitate to resort to weapons if necessary.

“In that brief heroic period where our republics were founded and the original project that our people defends with Justeza, with diplomacy, but has to defend it with weapons, will do so with weapons at the time it is necessary to defend the original project of a homeland that must be respected and must be enforced above any circumstance,” he said.

And he added: “Have the power that this empire has, call yourself what is called, we will give it to its fair measure a moral, ethical and political lesson to that empire in the years that are to come.”

These Dan statements in a context of growing tension in the Caribbean, after the military deployment of the United States and the Combat aircraft overflow near the Venezuelan coasts. Caracas described those actions as a provocation and a direct threat against their national security.

The Venezuelan Executive denounced these facts before international organizations such as the UN, the ICAO and the CELAC, and reiterated that it will exercise its legitimate right to territorial defense, covered by international standards that protect the sovereignty of states.
