Maduro: Venezuela can be a port of entry for Türkiye to Latin America

President Nicolás Maduro assured that Venezuela can become a port of entry for investment and tourism from Türkiye in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“I can tell you that Venezuela is the best guarantee that businessmen from Türkiye (Turkey, in Turkish) can have to make their investments in Latin America and the Caribbean“Maduro pointed out.

«Venezuela can be the port of arrival for all products of large industry and large production from Türkiye to Latin America and the Caribbean. We give all the legal guarantees to Turkish investors so that they can present their work”, insisted the first national president.

Maduro added that Turkish investors in his country will enjoy “all the guarantees” for “a process of expansion in the relationship between the two countries«.

The first national president made these statements at a joint press conference with Erdogan after a private interview and a signing ceremony for three agreements, referring to agriculture, tourism and financial relations.

US sanctions have returned “like a boomerang”

The US sanctions have “returned like a boomerang”, affecting the US and European economies, says the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, in an interview with the Anadolu Agency.

The Venezuelan president said that he sees the possibility of lifting US sanctions against his country as “very difficult” “because the US empire has always been trapped in its own aggression. Look at what is happening right now with Russia. All the sanctions imposed, more than a thousand economic sanctions against the Russian economy, agriculture, oil and gas, have returned, like a boomerang, and today they have returned against the European and American economies, which are creaking with runaway inflation; they also affected the economies and economic rights of all countries” he assured.

“These are small steps in the right direction. Let’s be patient, patient and keep working to get ahead with our own efforts, ”she said.

“Hopefully one day the United States abandons its policy of aggression, coercion, sanctions,” Maduro reiterated.

The exclusion of Venezuela from the Summit of the Americas was a “big mistake”

Regarding the exclusion of Venezuela from the Summit of the Americas, organized by the Organization of American States (OAS), President Maduro said that it has been rejected by more than 25 governments in the region.

His country, along with Nicaragua and Cuba, are, according to the president, the “anti-imperialist countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.”

“This meeting of the Americas has been transformed into a protest meeting of governments against exclusion and the US empire has been taught a lesson that… the time of imperial orders is over,” Maduro said.

“I would say that it was a big mistake by the country’s administration to try to exclude our country,” Maduro reiterated, referring to the absence of Caracas from the various activities taking place in Los Angeles, California.

“Unfortunately, this so-called Summit of the Americas gradually deteriorated from the political-diplomatic point of view. In these summits, important issues are not discussed, the priority issues of the peoples, the main problems we have”.

“The US empire intends to reach these instances to give orders, believing that Latin America and the Caribbean are the backyard of the empire. Those times are over,” Maduro stressed.

Asked if he planned to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is also in the Turkish capital Ankara, Maduro says he did not know that Lavrov was also in Ankara, but “if I can see him, I would be very happy. He is a great friend “.

Türkiye–Venezuela relations

Ankara and Caracas already have agreements in various areas, such as trade, finance, science, technology, agriculture, mining and energy, says the president.

In 2021, Türkiye and Venezuela reached a commercial exchange of USD 858 million, he said, adding that the goal is to reach USD 1.5 billion between 2022 and 2023.

“This visit has precisely the objective of adjusting new issues that allow us to grow in everything: comprehensive cooperation in the economic, scientific, technological and energy areas,” says the president.

“We have never had such a close relationship with Türkiye or with this region of the world as we have today. That is why I tell you that the world is much more than the United States and the West,” says Maduro.

Regarding the third meeting of the Joint High-Level Commission of Türkiye and Venezuela, which has been held recently, Maduro asserts: “There we are seeing a growth plan for the next 10 or 15 years of everything commercial, agricultural, energy and financial. ”.

“I can tell you that Venezuela is the best guarantee that Turkish businessmen can have to make their investments in Latin America and the Caribbean,” he insisted.

Maduro explained that 2021 was the first year of a definitive slowdown in inflation, construction of new macroeconomic instruments, exchange rate stability and economic growth in the South American country.

“For this 2022, the first quarter indicates that Venezuela has had a growth of more than 10% of its real economy,” he added.

It is the “ideal moment” for the arrival of international investment in Venezuela, assures the president, while the Latin American country is in a process of growing its commercial and productive capacity “in all industrial areas.”

There are 18 sectors of the economy where Venezuela has taken special measures to guarantee harmonious, stable and permanent growth, President Maduro concluded.
