The president of the republic, Nicolás Maduro, said this Monday in his program Con Maduro +, that the defense of Venezuela was almost unanimous in the UN Security Council, after our country requested a special session before that entity to denounce the threat from the United States against our country in the Caribbean Sea.
“Our diplomacy made a great effort to show before the UN Security Council the truth about Venezuela. Our representative dismantled all the false narrative that has been tried to be imposed against Venezuela,” said Dr. Samuel Moncada, permanent representative of our country at the UN, to the referee.
The head of state highlighted that all the interventions showed solidarity with Venezuela during the session, so the US position was not only under suspicion, but isolated. “On the one hand, they condemned the military actions; others, allies of the United States, did not join the North American ambassador’s story, that is, he was left alone,” he said.
The national leader concluded that this meeting is an important step to protect Venezuela diplomatically, protected by the instruments of international law and the UN Charter.
He took the opportunity to thank the representatives of Russia and China, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, for their firm stance in defense of international law and the sovereignty of Venezuela.
