The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, heads the Balance of the Base Assemblies, heading to the National Constituent Congress of the Working Class, where he highlighted the crucial importance of this sector in the country’s economy.
«The working class is the one that creates the wealth of this country and all the countries in the world. “Those who create wealth are the backbone that moves society and in Venezuela they are the ones who create wealth,” said the head of state.
Likewise, he stated that “the process, the doctrinal consensus of the national Constituent process, has one objective (…) is to release the energy of the Revolutionary workers force, for the comprehensive defense of the homeland.”
Changes beyond the Constituent process
The national leader stressed that this Constituent process must be profound, and must create a mechanism for the empowerment of workers in every part of the country.
“It is not a reform, it is a Revolution of the working class, with the working class and by the working class, so that the working class, so that the working class ultimately takes the power it has to have in the economy, in culture, in society, in politics, in the streets, in public opinion and contributes a mentality of power,” he stated and added that this working class remains in the history of the years to come.
Likewise, Maduro highlighted that these Assemblies are “a daily school” knowledge base, to continue breaking all “dogmas and paradigms, building our own structure, our own doctrine and our own paradigms” hand in hand with the people.
The true workers’ revolution
In the same order of ideas, the head of state highlighted the achievements that the Base Assemblies of the working class have had, which have been held in more than 10 thousand spaces, to advance in the Constituent process.
«In 28 days, as something miraculous, unique in the history of the labor movement in Venezuela, 10,289 grassroots assemblies have been held and 30,689 delegates have been elected. How can you rate this? Extraordinary, unique! “This is a true workers’ Revolution, this is the essence of the Revolution,” he emphasized.
At the same time, he asked workers to raise awareness about the value they have within society and also urged them to create a method of systematizing the process and reviewing new databases, with a view to building political power for the working class.
“We are talking about the construction of a new and powerful Venezuelan working class (…) we have a short-term goal which is the Great Constituent Congress of the Working Class,” said Maduro and invited assemblies to be held in private companies and to all independent workers.
During his speech, the national leader recalled that it was the working class who took the country’s economy forward, when US imperialism imposed coercive measures against Venezuela and food shortages occurred.
