Maduro: The revolution went from 212 to 285 mayorships throughout the country

The President of the Republic Nicolás Maduro, held from the Plaza Bolívar de Caracas and peeling the balcony of the City Council of the City, the triumph of an overwhelming majority of revolutionary mayors in the municipal elections of this July 27.

“Today, July 28, 2025, we can say that we have obtained a strong, historical victory for the forces of the Bolivarian Revolution,” said Maduro, and then dedicate a few words to the reelected mayor of Caracas: “I come to celebrate with this extraordinary, humble, honest woman … has been ratified by the town of the capital as its mayor for the next 4 years,” he said about Carmen Meléndez.

On the other hand, he greeted the feat carried out by Venezuelan youth with the elections of the communal youth projects. “I want to greet the leadership of youth for the toral success of the popular youth consultation … we have connected with the most beautiful thing: youth cannot fail!” He said.

The birth of a new opposition

President Maduro congratulated the 50 opposition mayors who achieved the victory in this Sunday’s electoral process, and invited them to work together without hatred.

“Some 50 opponents have won the Mayor’s. From here I congratulate the 50 opposition mayors who have won and invite you to work together, but also to recognize Venezuelan legislation and the revolutionary government,” he said.

He added that these elections symbolize the birth of a new Venezuelan opposition, which has set aside fascism, extremism and violence. “It has been the day of birth of the new Venezuelan opposition that have the challenge of governing well … we extend your hand and invite you to work together, without calls to the intervention, without calling to block or interventionism, without violence.”

Dedication to Commander Chávez

From the balcony of the Municipal Council of Caracas, the reelected mayor of the capital, A/J Carmen Meléndez, said that “today is a day of history, of homeland, of the brave people who decide at the electoral polls who will govern them.” He congratulated the youth that he decided in each community for his “projects of the present to build the future.”

With a more than 44% of active voters and 82.42% transmission, for a total of 6,233,531 voters, Carmen Meléndez was reelected as mayor of Caracas.

He congratulated President Maduro for the first year of the great victory of the “Gallo Pinto”, a name with which the people baptized the president candidate during the campaign that led him to re -election. “They wanted to steal the triumph, but we defeated them with the town on the street,” Meléndez said.

He dedicated the victory to Commander Hugo Chávez and President Maduro, in addition to the town of Caracas for the accompaniment during the campaign. “Here we are always united, loyal to Chavez, loyal to Maduro and especially loyal to the Venezuelan people,” he said.

For his part, President Maduro also spoke on this July 28, when Commander Hugo Chávez would turn 71. “On this date, birthdays of our unforgettable supreme commander Hugo Chávez Frías. We raise our prayer and dedicate this victory. Always live in our memory and in our works,” he said.

He added that “today we also celebrated a year of victory against fascism. With foreign support and money they have not been able to, nor can they … seven elections in one year and there are still two in this year for more communal projects,” he added.

Finally, he thanked the FANB and all security agencies for the organization of Operation Republic. He said that thanks to them, elections were held in peace.
