The president, Nicolás Maduro, thanked his counterpart from France, Emmanuel Macron on Thursday for recognizing the state of Palestine according to a letter sent to the president of the National Palestinian Authority (ANP), Mahmud Abás, which has raised the outrage of Israel.
“I with all the differences we have with President Macron, I celebrate and congratulate the people of France and I thank President Macron for the step he has taken today to recognize the right of the existence of the Palestinian State,” he said during a Interview with the Telesur channel.
The president said that the right of the Palestinian people is “established in multiple resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, is international law.”
“Netanyahu wants to ignore the resolutions that are international law of compliance and humanity has to meet,” he added.
Maduro reiterated his proposal that made a multilateral summit in favor of peace more than a month ago.
“I have received response letters from many heads of state and is in process, perhaps because it is mature that makes it (the proposal), so some do not say it publicly, but they have answered us privately that they agree,” he said.
He also noted that Asia Occidental, Arab, Muslim countries, the Arab League, the organization of the Islamic community, China, Russia, India, the BRICS and the United States “must urgently summon a multilateral summit for peace and international legality.”
Macron announced Thursday that France will recognize next September to the Palestinian State.
“Faithful to its historical commitment to a fair and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France recognizes the state of Palestine,” Macron announced through his account of social network X, in which he shared the letter sent to the Palestinian leader.
The Chief of the French State said that this recognition will formalize in the UN General Assembly next September.
In a message in X, Netanyahu, “vigorously” condemned the decision and said that “a Palestinian state in these conditions would be a launch platform to annihilate Israel, not to live in peace with him.”
In his letter, Macron advocated “finally building the state of Palestine, ensuring its viability and allowing, accepting its demilitarization and fully recognizing Israel, participate in everyone’s security in the Middle East. There is no alternative, ”he added.
