President Nicolás Maduro rejected in a new edition of his space “Maduro Live De Repente”, the misuse of social networks through which a challenger has been promoted, in which students in schools are exposed and high schools to toxic substances that cause serious poisoning. The incident has occurred in several schools in different states of the country.
“We have spoken with parents and representatives and they did not know anything about this. “They found out because we said so,” said the president while highlighting that measures are being taken to minimize the risks to the student population.
“I have given instructions to Minister Héctor Rodríguez and the governor of Portuguesa to mobilize teachers, parents and representatives, and students, to reject this in the streets,” he said.
“They repeat and make it fashionable for boys to prepare some products that they spread on desks, floors, bathrooms or clothes and that causes poisoning of various kinds,” said the president while highlighting that in Venezuela there are already 7 delicate cases.
Maduro called on fathers, mothers and representatives to be very aware of what their young people see, since this type of challenge affects thousands of young people around the world and Venezuela is not exempt from this situation.
He noted that there are already people arrested in these cases.
He regretted that the extreme right tries to “ride on these regrettable events and call for schools to be closed.” “Either they are behind these campaigns or they are trying to harm the best start to the school year in 12 years. “They are desperate to harm Venezuela to see if they disturb our tranquility,” he said.
Victims of what was a hope
The Minister of Education Héctor Rodríguez, special guest in the presidential program, highlighted the importance of monitoring the content that children and young people have access to on social networks, since they are being victims of unscrupulous people.
“Our children are being victims of what was a great hope, social networks, which has become a tragedy for humanity,” said the minister while adding that “in the educational case it is doing a lot of damage. There is a need to raise awareness in society, in students and in representatives.”
“We cannot leave our children and adolescents alone in the hands of social networks… there are reports that determine that exposure to screens before the age of five, there is less brain growth… students’ attention levels are decreasing,” the minister reflected.
