
Nicolás Maduro convened on Thursday for next Saturday a national drill of Civil Protection and preparation of citizens Before natural catastrophes or “any armed conflict”, after several earthquakes were registered on Wednesday and early today in the west of the country.
“I want to announce and summon all our people in perfect popular, military, police union, for Saturday that comes to a national simulation of civil protection and preparation of the people before natural catastrophes or before any armed conflict that there could be,” said the president in an act with the communes transmitted by the Venezuelan State Television (VTV).
Maduro said that he has already given the instructions to the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, the Minister of Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello, as well as the high command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).
In addition, he said that this day must include the educational and hospitable centers of the country.
Earthquakes in the West
He indicated that between Wednesday and Thursday in the early morning there were “important tremors” in the west of the country.
“He felt throughout the west of the country very strong, even in Caracas and in Miranda (northern Venezuela), the faucets (legs) trembled more than one, because one scares himself,” he added.
He argued that the objective is to activate the plans that Venezuela “has in the field of civil protection, in the face of” any unwanted situation. “

In the early hours of Thursday, the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that 10 earthquakes and 21 replicas were recorded, as part of a seismic swarm that affects the Venezuelan west, and said that “no human losses have been reported.”
“6.3 and 4.0 magnitude earthquakes have occurred,” said Rodríguez, who explained that it is “activates a tectonic failure in the west of the country.”
An earthquake 6.3 was felt on Wednesday night in the western region of Venezuela, as well as in Caracas, after several previously registered, one of them of magnitude 5.4 reported hours before by authorities of that country, the Colombian geological service in the social network X reported.
Users in X claimed to have felt the earthquake in cities in the states Zulia, Táchira, Lara, Mérida, Barinas, Trujillo, as well as in Caracas.
