Maduro says he has his “rifles polished” before the “Almost Venezuela” campaign

The president also mentioned in the speech that he had a 15-minute telephone conversation with the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, and expressed to Maduro his concern about the reports received regarding post-electoral violence in Venezuela and the allegations of human rights violations.

President Nicolás Maduro said on Friday, September 20, that the country “has its rifles polished” in the face of “countdowns” without clearly mentioning the “Almost Venezuela” campaign that raises funds against the Maduro government.

“The countdown clocks say that they will invade us tomorrow, we have to polish our rifles and we have polished them (…) The greatest resistance is in the field of spirituality of Venezuelan self-affirmation,” said Maduro.

Although the president did not offer details, he did allude to a campaign promoted by the American businessman Erik Prince that recently showed a countdown. Although Prince has not offered further information, the X countdown is defined as “a movement that will change the course of Venezuela.”

The president, who is facing a political crisis and the lack of recognition from more than a dozen countries that question the results of the presidential elections of July 28, also indicated that he spoke for 15 minutes with the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres.

Guterres expressed to Maduro his concern about the reports received regarding post-election violence in Venezuela and allegations of human rights violations.

The Secretary-General, according to his spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, insisted to the president that the way to resolve the problems must be through a “genuine and inclusive” dialogue, while highlighting that the Venezuelan leader “spoke very clearly and frankly about how he sees the situation,” which Guterres “took note of.”

“Today I spoke with UN Secretary General António Guterres for 15 minutes for the fight we are giving, it is the devil, let no one ignore the persecution of fascist projects. “We have seen outbreaks of fascism in Europe, it is impressive how neo-fascism is advancing in Spain, cornering Spanish democracy,” said Maduro.

The president also said that he would meet on Friday night with “a good friend of the UN to inform him about these threats of US aggression towards Venezuela.”

On the other hand, the ruler also referred to Javier Milei, president of Argentina. It burns for us to be happy, fascism burns for us to be happyso Christmas starts on October 1st.” He also asked the Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez, to “comply with the priority purchase order for crafts and toys made in Venezuela” for the festivities.
