The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recalled the 29th anniversary of the day he was released from the “Prison of Dignity”, known as that March 26, 1994, when Commander Hugo Chávez was released after being the civil-military rebellion of February 4, 1992.

Through his account on the social network Twitter, the Head of State recalled the beginning of a new political stage in which Commander Chávez built a new leadership, thanks to direct contact with the people throughout the national territory.

“Upon leaving the “Prison of Dignity”, our Commander began a new political stage in which he built a strong popular leadership, from which the “Bolivarian Hurricane” arose, which, loaded with the dreams and hopes of the People, made way for him. to the New Homeland.” Maduro wrote on his social networks.

The day he came out of jail dressed in a beige liquiliqui, a very thin Chávez announced that the Bolivarian Revolutionary Movement 200 would take to the streets. He asked the people to help him organize a great national front to fight for the structural transformation of the country.

His first political act was to go to the National Pantheon to offer a floral offering before the sarcophagus of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, where he prayed for about 10 minutes. Upon leaving, a crowd spontaneously gathered around the compound to greet the new leader.

That March 26, the commander said: “I’m going to the catacombs to accompany the people.”
