President Nicolas Maduro, who is seeking a second term, said that none of the candidates have the support of the population. “With just one order, the people are activated, you know that.”
President Nicolas Maduro said the opposition “wants to tarnish the presidential elections” and reiterated his threat that “if they devour the light” they will face justice.
“They want to tarnish the elections, I already told you, if they deprive themselves of the light they will regret it 200 years from now. It will be the last mistake that the guarimberos and the extreme right will commit against the country,” said Maduro at a campaign event in San Felipe, Yaracuy state.
The president, who is seeking a second term, has said that there could be a “bloodbath” if the results of the July 28 election, which he claims will give him victory, are not recognized. His comments have drawn the attention of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and former Argentine President Alberto Fernández, who was disinvited from the role of electoral observer.
He said that the “people are determined to live in peace” and that “Sunday’s victory will astonish the entire world. It will be the most beautiful and greatest electoral victory in the history of Venezuela. Convincing and irreversible.”
He also assured that none of the candidates has the support of the population. “With a single order the people are activated, you know that, but I can also proudly say that as Commander in Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces I have the absolute and firm support of the Venezuelan military (…) I have the power of the civil-military-police union.”
In another campaign activity in Guanare, In the state of Portuguesa, Maduro promised to build housing and finance five million new projects for different sectors through social programs such as Credijoven and Credimujer. “I already have the money for the first million.”
Chavismo called for its Closing of campaign in CaracasAccording to Nicolás Maduro’s command, the activity will be on Francisco de Miranda Avenue, from Petare (east) and Sucre Avenue, Catia (west), to Bolívar Avenue starting at 9:00 a.m.
