Maduro recognizes combative journalism on Journalist’s Day

He Republic PresidentNicolás Maduro, greeted this Tuesday the work of the journalist in his day, and rescues the “combative journalism” to raise the voice for the truth in Venezuela.

“With a new statuette expressing the art of Juvenal Ravelo, today #27Jun, we present the “Simón Bolívar 2023” National Prize, a well-deserved recognition of combative, conscious and true journalism. See you journalists, pending! ”, Wrote the Venezuelan head of state on his account on the social network Twitter.

Every June 27, the National Journalist’s Day is celebrated in Venezuela. This, in homage to the first issue of the Correo del Orinoco newspaper, recorded on June 27, 1818.

Later, in 1964, it was promulgated that that day be celebrated as Journalist’s Day.

He Simón Bolívar National Journalism Award 2023 will once again award a statuette, diploma and cash recognition to the winners of the different categories this year.

The award categories are: Print, Radio, Television, Digital, Community and Alternative, Graphic Image, Opinion, Teaching and Research, and Cultural Journalism.

The statuette that the winners will receive has been made by Juvenal Ravelo, a renowned Venezuelan sculptor, who combined the elegance of laminated acrylic, the strength of stainless steel and kinetic art.

The verdict of the Jury of the 2023 Simón Bolívar National Journalism Award was announced on Monday.

Among the recognized journalists are colleagues from Últimas Noticias. Harold Urrieta, who took the National Journalism Award in the printed mention for its coverage of the sports crowd made in the Líder en Deportes newspaper.

The Simón Bolívar award for career was won by Antonio Manrique, a columnist for Últimas Noticias, in recognition of a lifetime dedicated to journalism and national history.

Another reporter from the house, Liz Rodríguez, won the award for her column En profundidad, published on the Telesur website. While Alfredo Oliva Clemente, also a columnist for ÚN, was recognized in the Opinion category for his program Construyendo la utopia, broadcast by YVKE Mundial.
