The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, led the act of promotion to the next higher rank of 300 professionals of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces belonging to the Presidential Honor Guard (GHP) and the General Directorate of Military Counter Intelligence (DGCIM).
At the opening of the event, the president recognized the two military bodies for their tireless work in defending national peace, as well as in preserving the physical integrity of the figure of the Head of State, just when he has been the target of multiple attacks and assassination attempts by extremist sectors.
“This is the great family of the Honor Guard, heir to the immense glories of the Honor Guard of our liberator who founded this body of combatants. This Honor Guard accompanied him to Boyacá, Carabobo, in Bomboná, Pichincha, Junín and Ayacucho. “It is the victorious Honor Guard of the united army that liberated our America,” he referred to this body.
He added that it is the same heroic Honor Guard “that took care of our beloved Commander Hugo Chávez. Here I see these officers, these boys and girls who took care of our commander with love. He has protected me and together we have defeated terrorist and fascist threats,” he said.
When referring to the professionals of the General Directorate of Military Counter Intelligence, he said: “You can talk about the CIA, the Mossad, the KGB. But if the world is going to talk about an intelligence that has done everything, we must talk about the DGCIM.”
He asked for greater coordination to promote the incorporation of the militia into the Presidential Honor Guarda movement announced this Tuesday during the commemoration of the Battle of Ayacucho.
“We are going to articulate ourselves with the militia people, with great force. So that our Honor Guard increasingly fulfills the mission of the country: guaranteeing stability, peace, life and the right to the future and prosperity,” he said.
He offered that “Venezuela will continue to defeat these conspiracies, especially in times like this, Christmas, family unity, peace.”
“I am honored to lead this December act of promotion to the next higher ranks for the patriotic, revolutionary and professional merits in which they have stood out… We have eminently patriotic military forces,” said the president.
