The ruler Nicolás Maduro received the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 25. The arrival of the Cuban president in Venezuela is aimed at deepening binational relations, especially in health and education.
According to a press release published by Presidential Press During the meeting, held at the Simón Bolívar international airport in Maiquetía, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to defending a world of peace and cooperation in favor of international solidarity.

The deputy of the National Assembly (AN) of 2020 Cilia Flores participated in the meeting; the foreign minister of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez; the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz; and the Cuban ambassador in Venezuela, Dagoberto Rodríguez.
The last meeting between Maduro and Díaz-Canel was in December 2020 at the XXII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held in Havana Cuba.
Both governments have maintained strategic alliances since the year 2000. From this agreement there are programs such as Misión Barrio Adentro, literacy programs.
