This Tuesday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, received the relatives of the Colombian leader, Piedad Esneda Córdoba Ruíz, at the Miraflores Palace.
The meeting was held on the occasion of the first anniversary of the sowing of the famous brave Colombian, social fighter, defender of human rights in Latin America, politician and revolutionary.
The first lady of the Republic, Cilia Flores de Maduro, was present; the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas; the president of the Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Pedro Calzadilla, among other personalities.
During the visit, Natalia and Camilo Castro Córdoba, children of the distinguished leader, shared anecdotes and reflections about her life and work, highlighted her courage and commitment in the fight for human rights and her tireless search for peace, in a country marked due to the conflict resulting from the social inequalities that the New Granada elite sowed in the past.
In tribute to the Colombian leader, in Venezuela, an exhibition called “Live Piedad” will be held in Venezuela from January 20 to 31, in the spaces of the Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Foundation (Celarg), an opportunity to remember , celebrate his life and work and highlight his role as a key figure in defending the rights of the most vulnerable.
