The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, received at the Miraflores Palace the ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Eber da Rosa Vásquez, who presented this Thursday, June 15, the Credentials that accredit him as a diplomat before the country.
From the Sol del Perú Room, located in the Miraflores Palace, the national President receives the Ambassador, after seven years of absence of this Uruguayan diplomatic figure in Venezuelan territory, following the decision of Montevideo to assign Carlos Bentancour as business manager in Caracas once José Mujica left office.
It should be noted that the appointment of Eber da Rosa marks a turn in the position that the government of Luis Lacalle Pou has maintained with respect to Venezuela and seeks to take an important step to elevate bilateral relations and diplomatic dialogue between both nations, highlights the Presidential press.
Da Rosa Vásquez was mayor of the department of Tacuarembó for three periods (1995-2000, 2000-2005 and 2015-2020) and senator of Uruguay between 2005 and 2015. He is considered the most trusted man of the leader of the National Alliance sector, Jorge Larranaga.
He is a lawyer and politician with extensive diplomatic experience. He is currently a member of the board of directors and secretary of the general of the majority sector of the National Alliance Party.
The decision to restore the figure of ambassador in Caracas was made by the Uruguayan government in mid-November 2022.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Yván Gil received the Style Copies from Ambassador Eber Da Rosa Vázquez, to whom, through his Twitter account, he expressed “interest in continuing to strengthen relations of cooperation and brotherhood, oriented under an agenda of productive work.” , reads the post.
