The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, received on Monday the credentials of the new ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago, Edmund Dillon, at the Miraflores Palace.
The diplomat was received with the corresponding honors and was accompanied by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Félix Plasencia, to the meeting room with the head of state.
«In the Miraflores Palace I received from the hands of His Excellency Edmund Dillon, the credentials that accredit him as the new ambassador of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The union and brotherhood of our peoples are strengthened,” the president said on Twitter.
Dillon, who has served as a soldier in the Trinidad and Tobago Forces, arrives in Venezuela after having held important positions in his country. He was Chief of Staff in 2005 and Minister of Security between 2015-2016.
Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago have maintained diplomatic relations since 1986.
