Maduro received the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Miraflores

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Nicolás Maduro, received this Friday at the Miraflires Palace, Caracas, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (DDHH), Volker Türk, with whom he held a brief meeting.

The national president reiterated to the UN High Commissioner his willingness to work jointly to consolidate actions to protect human rights.

It should be noted that the High Commissioner signed the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding that the country has maintained, since 2019, with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights during the meeting held with the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez and the Minister for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil.

This memorandum was signed, for the first time, in 2019; and since 2020 it has been renewed between both parties.

He also held a meeting with the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, who received him at the Federal Legislative Palaceseat of the National Assembly.

The high official began his work agenda on Thursday with a meeting with the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, with whom he reviewed the progress of Venezuela in the area of ​​human rights, after an invitation extended by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

Volker Türk will remain in Venezuela until this Saturday, and as part of his work schedule, he was scheduled to meet with different Venezuelan authorities, with President Nicolás Maduro and with representatives of civil society.

Venezuela is one of the Latin American countries that has recorded the greatest progress in terms of human rights through the Constitution and laws of a social nature.
