The insurgent history movement delivered to the president, Nicolás Maduro a facsimile copy of the Angostura discourse of 1819 written by the Liberator Simón Bolívar, to keep him in his office as a symbol of the Foundation of the Third Republic.
“There in the office one I have the saber of Carabobo, the sword of Lima, the guns of El Libertador; Now I am going to have the facsimile of Angostura speech, ”said President Maduro, upon receiving from the president of the Celarg, Pedro Calzadilla, the copy of an original that is preserved in the General Archive of the Nation.
During the development of edition No. 71 of the Weekly Program with Maduro+, the Head of State talked with a group of historians and historians who participated in the Seminar “The Angostura discourse to the Blue Book”, held in Caracas to commemorate the 206 years of the Congress held by Bolívar in the Orinoco. In that sense, the national president said that this seminar calls Venezuelans to continue in the deepening of participatory and leading democracy by which Commander Chávez always fought.
Calzadilla reported that the document delivered is a copy of the original that was certified by James Hamilton, an English citizen who settled in Angostura and collaborated with the patriotic cause of El Libertador. He informed that after reading the speech, Bolívar gives the text to Hamilton and asks him to translate it into English and make many copies to be sent abroad.
President Maduro considered that this instruction of the Liberator was part of the communication battle and the dissemination of ideas. “I receive this facsimile that Pedro Calzadilla brings me and the insurgent movement,” the national president said proudly.
Angostura: Republic Model
Calzadilla reported that, in 1819, Bolivar’s speech in Angostura is a symbol that must be seen, recognized as a great tool or instrument of ideas, thought, the design of the Republic, which will serve for the constitutional reform that was convened by President Maduro for this 2025.
“The speech is about a republic where Bolívar speaks clearly of the evolution and the abolition of slavery, which was the great issue. Many of those who were there and those who were listening to him in that Congress must have shuddered when he requested as for his own life, for the abolition of slavery. It was a bolivar that had already designed the historical horizon of the Independence Revolution, the horizon of the sum happiness, of the greatest sum of happiness, ”he said
“That is why I think that our historical project (the Bolivarian Revolution) today has a date of birth: which is in Angostura and on February 15 (1819) and I allow myself to put this idea; I believe that we should place it within the ephemeris of the homeland, because that is where we are born, where we are born as a project and this route is born that has brought us until today. ”
