This Thursday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, participates in the events of the celebration of the 68th anniversary of the birth of Commander Hugo Chávez.

“Today we can say, when Hugo Chávez turns 68, that we are united, in combat, with a smile looking to the future, with certainty, hope and optimism,” Maduro said.

The National President referred that in all the country’s municipalities the birth of Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez was celebrated, because “the people light a candle for Chávez, the people offer a prayer to Chávez, the people have faith in Chávez, because Chavez is alive!”

The President asserted that thanks to the unity among patriots around Chavista ideals, Venezuela has been able to face and defeat all threats, conspiracies and attempts at division.

“Chávez is among us and is still here in our battle, giving us his strength,” he concluded.

During the activity, cultists paid a musical tribute to the giant on his 68th birthday, for which the National Philharmonic, Venezuelan groups and singer-songwriters participated in this concert in honor of Chávez.

The singer Lucía Valentina interpreted one of the songs that she sang to Chávez in life when she was a girl; while the Venezuelan popular music singer-songwriter Oriana Ramos, together with the National Philharmonic, with maestro Rubén Capriles conducting, performed Mama Rosa.

The singer-songwriter Cristóbal Jiménez, who performed several songs, including Flor de Sabaneta with Adán Chávez, one of Commander Chávez’s brothers, recalled between songs the legacy of Commander Chávez in promoting Venezuelan music.

She also recalled an anecdote in La Casona, when Marisabel de Chávez was pregnant with Rosinés, who was asked to sing at the girl’s 15th birthday.

Also present at the activity were the first combatant, Cilia Flores; the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez; the youngest of Commander Chávez’s daughters, Rosinés, his brother Adán Chávez and other cabinet members of the National Government, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, mayors and governors.

The Minister of People’s Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, was in charge of animating the concert.
