Maduro once again alleges “attack on Guri” for blackout on #30Aug

The president said that They activated the Centella Plan to patrol and respond to the emergency. He also warned that they know where the alleged attacks came from and that he did not offer technical details because the investigation is ongoing. Maduro acknowledged that the failure was nationwide.

President Nicolás Maduro claimed on Friday night that the massive blackout the nation experienced since the early hours of August 30 was due to an “attack” on Guri, the country’s main hydroelectric plant.

In March 2019, when the country experienced a mega blackout, which lasted for more than five days, the Government also reported that the blackout It was motivated by an attack against this same hydroelectric plant.

“We know where the attacks come from. I congratulate the people and the uniformed people because they immediately detected the attack that left the entire country without electricity, and the Centella Plan was activated to patrol and protect the entire population,” said the president on the night of August 30 in a national broadcast.

In 2019, the then Minister of Communications, Jorge Rodríguez, attributed the various power outages, which lasted for several days, to an “attack.”

“It was another attack on Guri. At this time we have determined the mechanisms that were used in and around Guri and I will not say more because the investigation is in full process to achieve justice. But it was the father, the mother of all the attacks that have been made,” said Maduro about the failure on Friday, which occurred, according to the same president, at 4:48 in the morning.

The president added that the investigations are advanced and that the protection systems they have built worked. We have protected Guri, there are technical details that I must not give.“I don’t know if later,” he said.

Just like the alleged hacking of the Electoral System, Maduro pointed to the US as being behind the event, in that sense, he expressed that he was convinced that it was planned “in a war room in the US” and that from there they could launch a counterattack. He also indicated that They prevented two alleged attacks on Guri, who was trying to suspend the presidential elections on July 28.

“On Friday, July 26, a gang was captured in Ureña, which was carrying plans and explosives to proceed to blow up the Ureña electrical substation. They are in prison, half are Colombian and the other half Venezuelan. They are linked to Alvaro Uribe Vélez and Iván Duque of the far right,” he said.

The president reported that more than 90% of supermarkets remained active on August 30 with power plants and that municipal markets were 100% operational. Commerce reached 60% activation, while he assured that the health system operated with 100% self-generation.

Although the president said that the situation is returning to normal, some states and areas of the country are still without electricity, many of which have already been without power for more than 16 hours.
