The head of State Nicolás Maduro, said in his telephone participation before the great indigenous and Afro-descendant march that commemorated the Day of Indigenous Resistance in Venezuela, that there is nothing to celebrate this October 12, since since 1492 the largest genocide occurred in the history of humanity.
“Fascism is the heir and direct expression of colonialism. Today’s fascism is the heir to the worst in the history of humanity. We are heirs of the most noble and beautiful resistance: the heirs of Guaicaipuro that represents our dignity. We are the candela eaters of yesterday and today so that the empires respect,” said Maduro through the telephone communication provided by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez.
He reflected that “now they do not dare to say that they celebrate Race Day, now they say that it is Hispanic Day and that we are Hispanic. We are the America of resistance, make no mistake, we are the America of Abya Yala.”
He recognized Commander Hugo Chávez for being the main visibility of the indigenous cause in Venezuela, who promoted its recognition and respect in the Constitution and the laws of the country.
He asked to consolidate an institute that rescues all native indigenous languages, consolidate housing, health, and education plans in native communities. In addition, he called for the consolidation of the organization of indigenous youth in the communities and of the indigenous militia.
He ended his participation by saying that the 532-year resistance joins the resistance of the people of Palestine, Lebanon and Syria, who today resist against the same colonizing powers. “Let us prepare to continue being the vanguard of just causes,” he invited.
“They attacked our honor again”
