President Nicolás Maduro held, this Monday, August 22, a 30-minute meeting with the “Council of Vice Presidents and the political bureau of the revolution”, in which he congratulated the “participation of the people” in the elections of street bosses which took place last Saturday, August 20.
Maduro said that according to his calculations around 5 million Venezuelans participated. “245 thousand streets in which teams made up of four people were chosen. The states and the streets where it was not done are missing, it will be done progressively, ”he said.
He stressed that the slogan is clear: “organize, unite, add to succeed.” He indicated that he has evaluated all the implications of what he describes as a success and victory, “this week that is running, the elections for community chiefs are coming, that is ready.”
In this sense, and using “mathematical terms,” Maduro explained that the average is 3.3 streets per community, representing a total of 46,000 communities. “We are building Chavez’s dream, a PSUV with a powerful social, cultural, grassroots machinery with a powerful leadership there on the street.”
He also expressed that this fact is something “never seen before” and indicated that it is a political force of magnitude. “Congratulations to all street bosses blessings, love and commitment.”
He made a call to the communities, for Saturday, August 27, for what will be the election of the heads of community, “what a beautiful thing. This is true democracy, socialist and revolutionary, we are building the new, the beautiful, the profound. This is the true path of the liberators, the true path of Chavez.”
Earlier, the second vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, said that the elections of street bosses “help us to further strengthen the party and it is a form of democratic expression that becomes, she by itself, into a great force.”
“President Nicolás Maduro gave us the tasks last week: 1×10 of good government, action agenda, map of solutions and bricomiles”, he communicated in the usual Monday press conference.
Cabello admitted that the PSUV had fallen into a failure in its internal communications, but with the elections of the street leaders, “that skyrocketed.”
