Everything that the Government will do with the assets recovered in the Caiga Quien Caiga operation will be “shown to the people,” as promised by Maduro, but there is no public registry with the details of the seized properties.
President Nicolás Maduro reported that 1,007 assets have been seized in the anti-corruption operation that began in March, during a act carried out this Friday, April 28, to promulgate the Organic Law of Domain Forfeiture, sanctioned 24 hours ago by the National Assembly (AN) elected in 2020.
The legal instrument makes it possible to transfer to the State the ownership of assets belonging to persons involved in illegal activities, such as drug trafficking and corruption; therefore, the seizure of these assets is a first step in law enforcement.
The head of Chavismo explained that the seized assets include six buildings, 38 apartments, 28 mansions, 16 offices, four pieces of land, seven companies, one inn, one club, 13 industrial complexes with large warehouses, four farms, 361 vehicles high-end, 52 new trucks, nine motorcycles, 23 heavy machinery, nine buses, 19 “first level” aircraft, seven boats and various weapons.

Maduro’s detailed list differs from his previous statements, since he reports 361 high-end vehicles despite the fact that, two weeks ago, he indicated that there were 500 cars seized up to that moment, and even He stated that he would hand them over to the Bolivarian National Police (PNB).
The Chavista leader insisted that the confiscated assets must be reused for the benefit of the population, although he only talks about the allocation to other State agencies, for the benefit of public officials.
“These assets must go to the people of Venezuela, to public services and security services. This and the monetary resources, that we are behind them », she stressed.
This redistribution is part of article 48 of the law, referring to the “Destination of Assets”, which establishes as a priority the use of these assets and resources to finance the Government’s social protection system, guarantee the adequacy of public services, the recovery and maintenance of the public structure and the reinforcement of state security agencies. In short, everything remains within the Chavismo administration.
Maduro affirmed that “he will show the people” everything that will be done with the assets recovered in the Caiga Quien Caiga operation, but there is no public registry with the details of the seized properties. However, he guaranteed that he would hold daily public events to show the destination of all the seizures.
“There will be a series of daily events so that all the seized assets, in the light of the sun, in the eyes of the people, are delivered for the benefit of the Venezuelan population,” he stressed.
Outside of the anti-corruption operation, Maduro spoke of other assets seized from perpetrators of drug trafficking crimes throughout 2023 to whom the Asset Forfeiture Law will also apply. He mentioned 73 mansions, a luxury apartment, four pieces of land, an industrial complex with a warehouse, 62 high-end vehicles, three trucks, 26 heavy machinery, 17 aircraft and 10 boats.
