The candidate of the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP), Nicolás Maduro, began the offensive to close the electoral campaign from the city of Coro, Falcón state.
“From this place, today, Friday, July 19, the closing offensive of the campaign begins towards victory on July 28: from Coro to Miraflores,” he said before a massive rally in support of his candidacy in the capital of Falconia.
“With this mega mobilization, with this demonstration of fervor, the power of love has been raised. Our people want peace, the right to a future. Our people dream big and we are going to achieve it: a great popular victory on July 28!” he added.
During his pilgrimage across the country, the GPP candidate has visited 250 towns in the 16 days of the campaign.
Maduro said that God, Jesus of Nazareth and the truth are on the side of the revolutionaries. “Our Lord Jesus Christ said in his time as a prophet: ‘I am the way, the truth and the life’; and I say, as a man of Christ: we are the way, the truth of Venezuela and the guarantee of life and peace in this country,” he said.
The candidate of the revolutionary forces reiterated before the fervor of the Falconians that he has never been a puppet of anyone, nor will he be. “I don’t owe anything to anyone, I’m not afraid of even the demons, above me there is only God the Father Creator, and the only leader I have is called the sovereign people of Venezuela,” he asserted.
“There is no option to fail”
“I am a worker, I am proud to be a worker; and as a worker I had to take over the presidency of the Republic at a time of great pain and they underestimated us, but all those who messed with me and the people dried up; and all those scumbags will also dry up,” he stressed.
He added that they tried to kill him a thousand times, but God has had his hand in it “(…) because I have a mission to fulfill, and I will fulfill it come rain, shine or lightning: which is to make a strong, respected, great, prosperous, equal and just country.”
Maduro explained that this is not the mission of one man alone, but rather a collective action of all the people, and he expressed the need to carry it out “together.”
“There is no option to fail and we will not fail,” he stressed.
“There are enough balls here”
The standard-bearer of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) recalled that opposition extremists called for the invasion of the country, and reproached them that “they only have money and evil left.”
On the contrary, he stressed that the revolutionaries have plenty of love, intelligence and people. “As (Hugo) Chavez would say: because there are enough people here, there is enough patriotism here and we have demonstrated it, Commander Hugo Chavez: there are enough balls here to take this country forward, to a splendid future!”
“CNN’s garbage in Spanish”
Maduro recalled that he had said in recent days that he had repeatedly prevented a civil war in Venezuela and denounced the opposition’s plans for violence and to tarnish the electoral process.
“They are ready to cry fraud. They are already crying fraud today (…) They are trying to tarnish the electoral process; and the garbage from CNN in Spanish is the spearhead, and the garbage from EFE in Spain, from AFP in France, from AP in the United States, are the same as always: the garbage from the international media and agencies,” he said.
He stressed that the mainstream media knows what will happen in Venezuela and that is why they “want to tarnish” the country. Despite this, he assured that “we are already seasoned and no one will be able to tarnish the electoral process in Venezuela, and no one will be able to tarnish our country.”
