The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, lamented the death this Sunday of the “founding father” of Namibia, Sam Nujoma.
Maduro published in his digital networks that he sent a brotherhood message to the physical departure of Sam Nujoma, historical nationalist leader. “I make reminder of the founding father of Namibia, since together with the people he conquered his independence and governed in a dignified and sovereign way.”
He also recalled that Nujoma in his efforts for national reconciliation, economic development and the consolidation of Namibia’s independence “is widely accepted and valued.”
“In that sense, from Venezuela, close to his struggle, we give him in life the order Francisco de Miranda, a Bolivarian and Chavist of Namibia, Africa and in us. ”
“(…) Friends of the entire Global South, for being a symbol of struggle, unity and hope we will overcome with you, dear Tatekulu!” Said the head of state.
The presidency of Namibia confirmed this Sunday the death of the former president of that nation and father of Independence, San Nujoma, at the age of 95.
Through a statement, signed by the current president, Nangolo Mbumbba, the Executive reported that Nujoma, first head of state elected democratically after the country was released from the South African domain died at 23h45 local time in Windhoek, capital of that nation of southern Africa.
Nujoma presided over Namibia for three periods (1990-2005). He was a founder and first president of the popular organization of southwest Africa, known as Swapo, a core performance organization in the liberation of the country of South African racists.
