The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, denounced a historical pattern of failures in the United States’ attempts to impose extremist opposition leaders in Venezuela, contrasting this with the construction of a peaceful and sovereign homeland by the Bolivarian government and categorically rejected any colonial model that wants to be imposed by imperialism and insisted on dialogue with the United States based on mutual respect.
This complaint was made during the development of the Council of Ministers held this Friday at the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, where he repudiated the attempts at domination by the United States and the network of lobbyists who promote and finance these acts from Miami.
“It is impossible for sectors of power in the United States to manufacture a virtual reality and impose a model of colonial and slave domination on Bolívar’s Venezuela to steal its natural resources,” said the head of state. “That is impossible because here there is a people settled in the territory, in the communities, in the universities, in the factories, in the barracks and that people have demonstrated sufficient capacity to take our country on the right path, at a good pace, in good direction,” he said.
America was born diverse and will find its path of unity in diversity. It must be governed by tolerance and understanding, without giving room to fraud, lies and confrontation that the fascist and colonialist extreme right seeks to impose.
Failed models will never take over this country and Venezuela will continue its course with its people, having great achievements. Our message is one of peace, love and understanding. And if someone in the United States thinks of talking, there will always be a president here, ready, along with his people.
Maduro highlighted the work of Venezuelans in their efforts to build a strengthened homeland, and called on the American media not to be carried away by so many lobbies and to see the reality of the deep Venezuela that wants peace.
«It is important that the American media not get carried away by so many lobbies, that of the bondholders, the oil lobby, the Miami lobby, the corrupt united in Miami, the Venezuelan lobby (…) so many lobby that pays for articles. Open your ears, open your eyes so that you can see a deep Venezuela that wants peace, that will always win its right to peace and the future and that is right, as has been demonstrated in the United Nations Security Council, the historical reason, the legal reason, the juridical reason and has the greatest power that a nation can have, today, the blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he stated.
Failure after failure of the extremists
Maduro in his speech described a chronological succession of opposition figures who, as he recalled, were supported by external actors in a failed attempt to seize power. He first mentioned the former president of Fedecámaras, Pedro Carmona Estanga, whom he describes as a “coward” and “traitor” after the attempted coup d’état.
Subsequently, the bet focused on Henrique Capriles Radonski, whom he said he respected and whom he remembers as his former boss in Congress in 1998 and then as his electoral contender in 2014, highlighting that being a rookie with no experience in campaigns, he beat Capriles in just 10 days, despite the fact that the latter had been preparing for 15 years.
After several years of betting on Capriles, the opposition’s support moved towards Leopoldo López, who was compared to “the Venezuelan Nelson Mandela”, and then to Julio Borges and highlighted that almost all of these leaders ended up outside the country, with the exception of Capriles. He also made mention of the “brief support” received by Henry Ramos Allup, who promised to “resolve the situation” for the extreme right in three months.
Finally, Maduro accused White House officials – John Bolton, Rex Tillerson, John Kelly and Mike Pompeo – of “inventing” Juan Guaidó, investing “billions of dollars” in him. He assured that the Venezuelan extremist opposition not only received foreign money, it also sold its political independence to those who say they want to “help” the country.
Next, in this same line they manufactured the figure of María Machado, whom they describe as “the new version of Guaidó”, but nicknamed “La Sayona”, highlighting her extremist thoughts and ensuring that she has a “hysterical mind.”
Finally, President Maduro concluded that these “failed models” will never take power in Venezuela.
