Maduro highlights consultation advances on external shock decree

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced the beginning of a national consultation process on the constitutional decree of external shock, in response to the naval deployment of the United States in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, considered as a direct threat to national sovereignty.

During your program With Maduro +the president explained that this decree, framed in the state of exception provided by the Constitution, seeks to protect the Venezuelan people, preserve peace and guarantee the stability of the country in the face of any attempt at external aggression. “Venezuela has been economic, psychologically and politically assaulted, and has always come forward. This decree is a legitimate tool to defend us,” he said.

“Today the consultation process of the Constitutional Decree of State of Exception started, to decree a state of external shock, according to the Constitution and protect our people,” he said.

The executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, confirmed that the president signed the decree, which would be activated immediately in case of a military aggression. Rodríguez explained that the instrument grants special powers to the Head of State to mobilize the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), take control of strategic infrastructure such as public services, oil industry and basic companies, and activate citizen security plans throughout the territory.

The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez reported that the consultation chapters through the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace corresponding to the 24 entities of the Nation, which have the participation of the social sectors and the 54 political parties of the country, with the intention of creating spaces that promote initiatives to defend peace.

The Venezuelan government considers that the US military threat, conceals intentions of destabilization and regime change. In this context, the decree represents a constitutional response to “the most serious aggression against national sovereignty in recent times.”

This national consultation process seeks to strengthen popular support for defense measures and reaffirms the right of Venezuela to protect its territorial integrity and self -determination against external pressures.
