Maduro granted the Bicentennial Victors of Ayacucho order to those sanctioned by the US

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, decorated the 21 people who were recently sanctioned by the United States Government with the Bicentennial Victors of Ayacucho Order, in its only class.

By granting the recognition, within the framework of the commemoration of the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho carried out in Los Próceres, the head of state exhorted the recipients of the order: “become heirs in action of the glories of this decoration that is awarded for the first time in Venezuela in 200 years.”

The National Assembly on December 5 sanctioned the law approving the Victors of Ayacucho order, which arose request of the first national leaderafter Joe Biden’s administration issued new sanctions against officials and soldiers of the Bolivarian Government.

The people who received the award were:

  • Marcano Tábata, Javier José
  • Matheus Meléndez, Alberto Alexander
  • Menendez Prieto, Ricardo José
  • Nazaret Ñáñez Contreras, Freddy
  • Pérez Dávila, América Valentina
  • Reyes Rivero, Luis Gerardo
  • Rivera Bastardo, José Alfredo
  • Rodríguez Cabello, Alexis José
  • Rodríguez Díaz, Dilio Guillermo
  • Romero Bolívar, Orlando Ramón
  • Santiago Servigna, Rubén Darío
  • Villamizar Gómez, Jesús Rafael
  • Aigster, Carlos Eduardo

Under this decision, all properties of those sanctioned in the United States are blocked and it is prohibited to carry out financial transactions with these people.

To date, the US Treasury has sanctioned 150 Venezuelans and a hundred entities in the Caribbean country for undertaking what, in the opinion of the United States, are “antidemocratic actions.”
