The ruler Nicolás Maduro offered another annual message this Thursday, January 12, in which he said little about his management in matters as important as health, education, and citizen security. The ruler Nicolás Maduro took a little more than two and a half hours to offer his Report and Account of last year before the National Assembly with an official majority. During a good part of that time he addressed various aspects of the “Bolivarian revolution” since Hugo Chávez came to power. until the madurista government in 2022 “besieged by sanctions”.
In his speech, he listed the data that speak well of his management in 2022, such as the 15% growth in economic activity after years of recession, as well as the rise in exports and imports, of the good taxes collected and the greater activity in the Venezuelan capital market. However, he forgot to mention the results and “achievements” in other aspects that could give the national and international community an idea of the good or bad situation in which Venezuela finds itself.
Although Maduro referred to inflation in 2022 by noting that they will continue working to “stabilize” it as well as the exchange rate, he did not mention what the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) closed during the period. This important data for economic actors in their operations has not been published by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) since October, when the accumulated rate reached 119.4%. According to the regulations of the issuing body, the board of directors is obliged to publish the information before the first 10 days of each month, so the delay in the official figures is more than evident.
In his speech, he could have mentioned how the Nation’s budget for the 2022 financial year was executed, that is, how the fiscal deficit ended, the final amount of income and spending, as well as how much was allocated for each budget item. He also did not say the number of internal and external public debt, the average price of a barrel of Venezuelan oil, oil production, the income from oil rent in the year, the production of gasoline and its internal consumption.
How was the production of the basic companies, that is, the state companies of steel, aluminum, among others? He didn’t say. Its workers have been demonstrating to denounce the critical situation of these companies and to request salary improvements, so for Maduro turning a blind eye seems to be his best option.
Maduro also did not mention how much gold and other minerals have been exploited, as well as their possible export and the income they have generated.
As in previous years, when giving his annual message, he said little, or almost nothing, about the execution of infrastructure plans in the country, such as the construction of road networks or new transportation systems; as well as for the improvement of the deteriorated public services such as water, electricity, domestic gas and telecommunications.
And the social data?
Other data that he forgot to present were actions in social matters. She did not show general health results or the state of the health infrastructure. Nor what were the plans and results of the fight against covid-19, about how many vaccines and their boosters have been applied. Will the obligation to use the mask continue in 2023? It is not known if the same government policy will continue to contain its spread since Maduro did not even remember it.
Any epidemiological report in a country where diseases that had been eradicated have worsened? A lot less.
Representatives of various sectors of the country were waiting for the achievements or projects carried out in education during the Maduro administration in 2022. What was the enrollment of students in schools, high schools and universities? He didn’t say it. Was there desertion? He didn’t talk about it either.
He only managed to point out that the so-called Bricomiles (Community and Military Brigades for Education and Health) managed to undertake a plan in educational and health buildings, although there is evidence that the result is little more than cleaning and makeup of walls than a good general repair.
Something to comment on the management of maduro’s administration in 2022 is that once again the population will not have the possibility of doing “comtrollership” to the two bound volumes and a third document delivered by Maduro to the president of the AN 2020, Jorge Rodríguez. For many years, the memories and accounts have not been published for dissemination.

Maduro ignored the large protests that workers in the health and educational areas have carried out in recent weeks throughout the country. Nothing mentioned about a possible improvement in their working and salary conditions, even if it is at least to calm things down.
It drew attention -by the way- that did not report the number of families served with the food subsidy through the CLAP (Local Supply and Production Committees). It is very possible that the decrease in the delivery of this benefit has had something to do with its non-disclosure.
In terms of citizen security or actions carried out by State security agencies, the national president did not mention anything, nor the way in which actions have been taken to prevent the expansion of the guerrilla in Venezuela or if there were operations in this regard.
Several social organizations in the country and even international organizations have harshly criticized the police and military action against citizens, but during this management report no plans were pointed out that together with the Prosecutor’s Office or the Ombudsman’s Office have been executed to reduce bad practices that take place during operations.
Once again, he fails to address the issue of the strong Venezuelan migration, he did not even point out the figures of Venezuelans who have returned to the country with the government plan “Vuelta a la patria”.
He didn’t even remember the prison system. It is possible that you consider that all the inmates are enjoying the nightclubs, bars, banks and pigs that exist within the Venezuelan prisons.
