Maduro expresses solidarity with Florida due to Hurricane Milton: “there are many Venezuelans there”

Nicolás Maduro expressed his support for the inhabitants of Florida, especially Venezuelans, in the face of the imminent impact of Hurricane Milton, and urged local authorities to act quickly


President Nicolás Maduro expressed his solidarity with the United States this Wednesday, October 9, especially with the state of Florida due to the impact of Hurricane Milton, which after severely affecting Mexico, is advancing towards the south of Tampa with a worrying destructive power.

During a broadcast on Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he urged US authorities and citizens to «respond to calls to evacuate Florida» in order to protect the population, remembering that «there are many Venezuelans there».

Maduro expressed his concern about the recent increase in the intensity of climatic phenomena in the Caribbean, highlighting the role of warming marine waters in the formation of hurricanes.

He mentioned studies that link climate change with the increase in extreme weather events in the Caribbean due to the warming of marine waters, indicated by science.

«It seems that the powerful of the world like Elon Musk are preparing rockets that will save them to go to the moon, but they do all that knowledge and money thinking that they can go. They should use all that force to reverse the climate emergency we are experiencing.»he added.

On the other hand, he referred to the educational situation in Venezuela to highlight that 70% of university education in the country is public. Segpun reported, «84% of quality education is advancing» and that it must be focused on values.

It also approved financing for 200 new scientific research projects, involving more than 7,000 Venezuelan scientists and 5,000 places for the Second Call for National Postgraduate and Academic Strengthening Scholarships.

Finally, he reported on the creation of the National Center for Research, Development and Innovation of Venezuelan Cocoa (CENIDICV), highlighting the potential of cocoa as a key resource to improve the “happiness and well-being” of the Venezuelan people.
