Nicolás Maduro indicated that the gas industry is stabilizing and promised to start exporting gas
Nicolás Maduro said that so far in the month of January, one million 57 thousand barrels of oil have been produced per day and indicated: “We are heading towards one million 500 thousand barrels per day, with our own efforts.”
Likewise, he indicated that the gas industry is stabilizing after an explosion was recorded last November in the state of Monagas, the largest gas distributor in the country.
Maduro explained during a National Council of Productive Economy this Monday, January 20, that what happened at the gas plant was a “terrorist attack” that seriously affected several regions of the country. However, he reported that “it was recovered, reinsured” and promised to “grow enormously in gas production for national consumption and for export.”
In this sense, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez stated: “We are on the route of gas-exporting Venezuela.”
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) reported that Venezuela produced an average of 921,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil last year, an increase of 17.6% compared to 2023, when it averaged 783,000 bpd.
On the other hand, Maduro indicated that the country is emerging as a mining power, as he noted that the industry has grown by 45% and the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Trade, Coromoto Godoy, added that in 2024 they will achieve 71% of exports “still “in the midst of harassment and sanctions.”
In the same way, Nicolás Maduro requested “to build an economy independent of hydrocarbons”
