President Nicolás Maduro decreed this Wednesday, July 20, 2022, the creation of five Special Economic Zones, a measure that has the objective of promoting tourism, trade, and the production of goods and services in different locations in the country.
In a meeting held in Miraflores (seat of government) with ministers of the Executive Cabinet, state governors and some ambassadors from countries that recognize his mandate, Nicolás Maduro signed the execution of the Organic Law of Special Economic Zones, sanctioned by the elected National Assembly in 2020.
The five Special Economic Zones (ZEE) decreed were:
1) ZEE Paraguaná, Falcón state
2) ZEE Puerto Cabello and Morón, Carabobo state
3) SEZ La Guaira
4) ZEE, Margarita, Nueva Esparta state
5) SEZ Island Territory La Tortuga
Regarding the last ZEE, he indicated that a project is being promoted for the development of that zone that has ample potential for tourism.
He added that localities in the states of Táchira, Anzoátegui and Monagas, among others, are under study to be declared Special Economic Zones.
The deputy to the National Assembly Orlando Camacho (Somos Venezuela Network of Entrepreneurs), expressed that, with the SEZs, the country opens up to attract investment that promotes products made in Venezuela.
“It is a country that has natural wealth, iron, aluminum, oil, which can be given national value to export and will be able to generate decent employment and improve the worker’s purchasing power, as well as the commercial relationship with other countries”, Camacho said.
Through communication via videoconference, the governor of the Nueva Esparta state, Morel Rodríguez, affirmed that the measure will give an important boost to the development of that entity and thanked Nicolás Maduro for helping that region of the country.

Project to be developed in Isla de la Tortuga
On Isla La Tortuga, Nicolás Maduro that it is the most important tourism project in the world at this time.
The Vice Minister of Productive Economy, Héctor Silva, explained that the Tortuga Island project includes the construction of 10 high-level resort hotels, with pure renewable, solar and wind energy, and will be carried out along the edge of the island. , respecting the internal part of it and in this way the flora and fauna that exists there.
The project also contemplates the construction of an international airport and a port that will be the destination of the different cruise ships that will travel through the Caribbean.
Finally, he indicated that a scientific research center aimed at developing technology will be built in the town.

Covid in the High Government
