Maduro: Comanditos tried to burn and assault Miraflores a month ago

Despite the disturbances to peace, the country’s economy has not suffered any major disruptions, the head of state noted.

Venezuelan head of state Nicolás Maduro revealed that a month ago they “intended to burn down” the country and attempted to attack the Miraflores Palace in Caracas, “with a group of 300 criminals” grouped in the self-proclaimed “comanditos.”

“They were contract criminals, most of those captured had a drug called captagon in their blood,” the head of state denounced this Thursday during a working meeting with representatives of the Banking, Insurance and Securities sectors.

“At this time (a month ago) I was here (…) fortunately the vast majority were identified because they posted videos on TikTok, they broadcast live,” he explained.

The president revealed that through security technology, the violent extremists were identified and are now before the courts. “The world says they are political prisoners. What a way to do politics, burning down a hospital,” he said.

Despite the disturbances to peace caused by radical right-wing leaders, Maduro said that the country’s economy “suffered almost no disturbances.”

“On August 1, we had full supplies for the country. This tells you how robust the economy is and that the political dispute is no longer transferred to the economic field, the economy is no longer a battlefield of ideology, parties and politics,” he stressed.
