Nicolás Maduro took advantage of a public event this Thursday to clarify a rumor on social networks that would celebrate his 63rd birthday with a concert at the Monumental stadium in Caracas.
The president assured that the version, which he himself helped spread in a video, was nothing more than a joke that many believed because – he said – Venezuelans like “bochinche.”
“Because people like it, it’s a joke, everyone believed it (…) you can’t imagine, Delcy (Rodríguez), the number of messages and calls I have received from Venezuelan artists, Venezuelan music, salsa, rock, reggaeton, of all ages and musicians from other parts of the world who sent me the message: ‘Tell me what time I have to be there to go sing at the Monumental,’ he said during the Constituent Congress. of the Working Class, broadcast by VTV.
Maduro even continued the joke by stating that he received calls from the American Taylor Swift and the Puerto Rican Bad Bunny, although he acknowledged that he did not answer them.
The president insisted that there will be no musical show on Sunday and that the priority must be the popular consultation, in which more than 5,000 community circuits will choose the projects that will receive state financing.
He affirmed that his celebration will be in the hands of the people.
“Wherever they want, they bite a cake in my name and have a guarapita and have a little dance, so the Monumental will be throughout the country,” he expressed.
The confusion arose after Ripe hours before published a video on Telegram precisely announcing a birthday concert at the Monumental Simón Bolívar stadium, with capacity for about 40,000 people. His birthday, November 23, coincides with the fourth popular consultation organized by Chavismo.
