The Christmas season began a week ago in Venezuela, as declared by the dictator Nicolás Maduro, who established the start of the festivities for October 1st this year; an act that was pointed out by the international community as an attempt to extinguish the tension around the electoral fraud committed by Chavismo last July.
Maduro seems to have forgotten the “Christian spirit” of Christmas and lashed out with hatred against those who, according to him, make fun of advancing the dates that correspond to Vespers in the month of December.
«There are journalists who from Miami, Spain, Colombia, speculate why Maduro brought Christmas forward. “It’s not the first time, idiots, we’ve done it before,” Maduro said on his televised program.
«Idiot mercenaries! They write articles saying that we overtook it for this and that. Yes, we advanced them and we are happy. Our happiness hurts them. “Goofs!” said Maduro.
The Venezuelan dictator, who seemed angry, also attacked the “international right” and justified why he decided to advance the end of the year festivities, since he also included the New Year celebrations, arguing that the advance of the holidays will bring peace to Venezuela.
«It hurts you because we advance them, since it is the most beautiful vaccine that we have known and proven to dissipate the bad energies of you, demons and demons»
Maduro, during his speech, apparently referred to María Corina Machado, the opposition leader who, together with Edmundo González, claims that they widely won the 2024 presidential elections. The Chavista called Machado a “demon” and accused her of being the culprit of the violence that the South American country experienced.
«In the face of the hatred of demons, blessings of early Christmas for the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela! And let the global right burn. If it burns, let them scratch it. “We are happy,” said the questioned president.
It is not the first time that Maduro brings Christmas forward
After assuming the presidency in 2013, the dictator Maduro has used the “Christmas preview” as a strategy eleven times, among the most obvious being the first time in 2013 after the death of the leftist dictator Hugo Chávez.
In 2020, when the country was experiencing a serious health crisis due to the covid pandemic and the poor management of precarious health institutions in Venezuela. And the similar cases of 2017 and 2024 in which Chavismo suffered massive protests by millions of citizens against electoral fraud.

Maduro’s attempt to bring happiness and peace to Venezuelans after bringing Christmas early is unsuccessful among the population that complains about the high price of the basic basket, the difficult access to quality health and the increase in unemployment that have led to more than seven million Venezuelans to migrate, mostly to the United States.
Pensioners and retirees in Venezuela receive a payment of 3.5 dollars per month, an amount that has not increased for two years and does not represent even 1 percent of the basic basket, which is valued at 500 dollars.
“Christmas ended a few years ago,” says Urimare Capote, a lawyer and representative of the Committee for the Defense of Retirees and Pensioners who have stationed themselves outside the United Nations headquarters in Venezuela to ask that it mediate with the government. .
“As long as there is no decent salary, there cannot be a decent Christmas,” insists Arturo Morgado, 68 years old and retired from the CANTV telephone company. “Last year I didn’t celebrate it, today everything is worse.”
Nicaragua: The country of eternal Christmas
If the leftist dictatorships of Venezuela and Nicaragua have anything in common, in addition to the repression and violation of human rights and public freedoms, electoral fraud, it is the long Christmases. Authoritarian governments seek to extend these festivities to appease and entertain the population.
After assuming power in 2007, Rosario Murillo ordered the installation of Christmas decorations and arrangements throughout the capital and some municipalities of Managua, however, with the arrival of the new year these were not replaced, on the contrary they remained like this throughout the year. following year.
Faced with criticism, Murillo ordered the replacement of Christmas trees on roundabouts and avenues with “trees of life,” many of which were torn down after the massive demonstrations in 2018 against the Sandinista dictatorship; However, after the repression, Murillo ordered the demolitions to be lifted again and more installed throughout the country.
Sofía Montenegro, a sociologist and communication specialist, told the BBC that Murillo uses Christmas lights (now trees of life) as a protective Feng Shui weapon.
«She put up the Christmas trees because she is doing what in Feng Shui is called a fire cure, and the emblem of fire is the lights. In fact, it is often recommended to use Christmas candles to do the Feng Shui cure in your home,” explains Montenegro.
The Christmas season is taken advantage of by the Sandinista government, within the agenda imposed by Murillo, up to 650 activities are carried out in the month of December alone, among them, pastorelas, fairs and public concerts, a strategy that Maduro also uses and that aspire to give certain “air of normality.”
