Maduro calls for progress in the creation of armed combatant bodies of peasants

Nicolás Maduro commented that Casa Militar – the protection body of the Presidency and Vice Presidency – will train new contingents of militiamen, of which he said there are four million distributed throughout the country. “Do not forget the security and defense of the homeland and the territory, and be trained, organized and armed to defend the homeland and to defend the productive territories”

The ruler Nicolás Maduro asked the Bolivarian Militia this Tuesday, December 10, to advance in the creation of the “armed combatant bodies” of peasants and fishermen

«I want us to take a step further, commander of the Bolivarian Militia (MG Orlando Romero), we have to advance much further in the creation of the national peasant militia, the national militia of fishermen and the armed combatant bodies of peasants, men and women, fishermen and fisherwomen,” said Maduro from the Miraflores Palace, when receiving a march for the 165 years of the battle of Santa Inés.

He also commented that Casa Militar – the protection body of the Presidency and Vice Presidency – will train new militia contingentsof which he said there are four million spread throughout the country.

“Do not forget the security and defense of the homeland and the territory, and be trained, organized and armed to defend the homeland and to defend the productive territories,” said the president during his speech.

In addition, he called for a “great popular communal peasant congress” for January, on dates close to January 10, when a new president must be sworn in according to the Constitution. Regarding this, Maduro swore that “this presidential house (Miraflores) will never fall into the hands of a puppet of the oligarchy and imperialism. This house belongs to the people,” in reference to the opponent Edmundo González.

After the elections of July 28, where the National Electoral Council proclaimed Maduro the winner, the opposition has claimed “fraud” and has assured that, based on the voting records they managed to collect, González Urrutia won with more than 70% of the votes.

Part of the international community has said that it will not recognize the results of the presidential elections until the CNE officially publishes the table-by-table results of the elections. For his part, Edmundo González has said that he is willing to return to the country – after going into exile in Spain due to threats – to carry out his swearing-in.

Maduro responded in a veiled manner to these statements and said that “however the fascist puts it to me, I’ll cut it short, and if they come the hard way, they will regret it.” “We want peace, I want peace and with the blessing of God and the strength of the people we will have peace, merry Christmas, a good new year and a tremendous January 10.”
