President Nicolás Maduro led the event on the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the creation of the National Guard. He denounced that in Venezuela there was an attempt to forge “the first cyberfascist coup.” He accused Instagram and Tiktok of trying to spread hatred “to seek a massacre and to bring fascism to Venezuela.”
President Nicolás Maduro authorized promotions to officials of the National Guard (GN) and the National Armed Forces. The ceremony took place this Sunday, August 4, one week after the presidential elections in which the National Electoral Council named him the winner.
“The baton of command will never fall into the hands of traitors,” Maduro stressed at the event, which coincided with the celebration of the 87th anniversary of the creation of the National Guard. He highlighted the fact that the anniversary has come at a time when “a cyber-fascist and criminal coup d’état” is being faced on the streets of Venezuela.
According to the president, the FAN and all its components are cohesive and united and that the destabilization plans will not prosper. Maduro added that part of the offensive of “the right” seeks to “hurt the GN from within, as well as demobilize it,” for this reason, he said that “a campaign of cyber harassment” has been initiated.
“We are in times of struggle for peace, democracy, national stability. To say peace is to say future, the right to independence, to self-determination,” he said, while expressing his condolences to the families of two GN members who were killed during the demonstrations.

Maduro said he is willing to do anything and noted that he has the officials to ensure that order, the law, the constitution and the right to peace of the citizens prevail. He also highlighted the actions of the security forces between Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30, when opponents protested against the CNE results.
“I will redouble my support to consolidate the GN component, in every sense: operational capacity, members, professionals, social welfare. We must do more for the FAN, but much more with the GN because it has fundamental missions,” he said.
He said that the first cyber-fascist coup that is being attempted in Venezuela is being stopped. “It is a coup d’état. They used the electoral process and Instagram. I accuse these networks of instilling hatred, seeking a massacre and bringing fascism to Venezuela,” he added.
He stressed that the FAN has its own organizational structure, “the regions of integral defense that conceive the national defense and the national integrity and the Constitution.”
Maduro rejected the position of the European Union, which in a statement declared the repression of security forces against opposition protesters. He criticized Joseph Borrell, representative of the bloc, for remaining silent in the face of “the Gaza massacre (…) now he says that in Venezuela there is repression of peaceful demonstrations.”
