The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, asked to form a thousand promotional teams of the Josefa Joaquina Sánchez Movement in the thousand most organized communes in the country, in order to strengthen the participation of women in the construction of the communes and the consolidation of the Popular Power.
The announcement was made by the president at the event on the occasion of the celebration of the 1st anniversary of the Great Venezuela Women Mission, which was held at the Teresa Carreño Theater and was attended by representatives of women’s movements in various sectors of national life.
The president’s request was seconded by the Minister of Women, Johana Carrillo, who said that through the Great Venezuela Women Mission, women’s groups must organize from the communes “so that together with the movements that make up this great mission we strengthen even more female empowerment.”
The head of state asked to “territorialize the strength of women, where everyone is welcome.”
He said that “this year we have provided 105,601 loans and financing to entrepreneurs throughout the country. We have to reach a million new ventures.”
At the same event, Maduro announced the inauguration of the María Teresa del Toro y Alayza High Technology Center for Women, which is the 26th unit to be installed in the country and has equipment for comprehensive medical care for women.
Finally, the president called a congress of Venezuelan women before the end of the year, which he proposed to hold in December. However, he did not announce a fixed date for its completion.
