Maduro asks the Assembly to work on the regulation of social networks

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, asked the National Assembly to work on the regulation of social networks. “We have the right to quality social networks with good content,” he expressed during the broadcast of his podcast Con Maduro De Sudden.

“The recent Law, approved in Australia, is a reference for the world on how to legislate the use of these technologies. There is plenty of scientific evidence of the damage they cause to society, children and youth. The unpunished content that circulates and affects intellectual development must be regulated,” he said.

The recently approved norm by the Australian Parliament is a pioneer in the world, because ban social media for children under 16 and calls on tech companies to strengthen security by an as-yet-unset deadline.

Maduro considers it necessary for each social network to have an office in the country so that compliance with the country’s laws can be established.

He reported that the official summons made by the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela was delivered to the representatives of Tiktok in Mexico.

“We hope that they will come to Venezuela soon to reach a legal, constitutional and juridical solution to the situation that has arisen due to the “Challenger” or challenges transmitted through this social network.
